[Read on better-humans.co] Our Human Nature… ImperfectionMy friend told me yesterday that she broke up with her boyfriend. Interestingly enough, she was very excited about how amazing this guy was just a couple of weeks ago. He was “the perfect guy”. It turns out he had promised her the moon, but instead, he cheated on her. It doesn’t matter where you go, you hear these stories over and over again in different forms. Dads promising their kids they will go to their game, but never showing up. Husbands telling their wives they love them, but secretly flirting with that other girl at the office. Christians boasting about their faith, but lying on a daily basis. You telling yourself you will take care of your health, but you can’t stop eating junk food. Everyone’s lying one way or another. We are imperfect beings by nature, that’s true. So what do we do? It's That Simple, Just Not That Easy.It all comes down to staying true and real to your word, to stay consistent with the truth because keeping your word speaks more about your character than anything else. If you don’t love her anymore, don’t say you do. If you know you probably can’t be at the game, don’t tell your kid you will be. If you can’t keep that promise, don’t promise at all. Your tongue can be your best friend today, but it can also become your worst enemy tomorrow. You're meant to control it, not the other way around. The Bible says it in many different ways:
The Challenge For UsIt doesn’t matter how beautiful everything you say sounds, if you don’t actually mean it and do it. You can always get away with it, and lie your way out, but it will come back and bite you. What you do with your actions is much more valuable than anything you could possibly say with your words — give that some thought. It all starts with what you say, but it all ends with what you do. Take pride in your word and don’t waste it. No one can do it for you. Talk less, do more. Stay honest, Love,
