Books I've read

(and have taken notes for myself and my daughter ♥)

I never enjoyed reading as a kid. It wasn't just boring, it was hard work.

But eventually, I realized that the people I admired most (including my wife) were all avid readers. So, I gave it a try, reading about topics that naturally interested me, and surprisingly, I fell in love with it.

Last year, I heard Naval Ravikant say that the foundation of learning is reading. He says here to read what you love, until you love to read - that explained exactly what happened to me.

However, I noticed that much of what I read, I quickly forgot. So, I started a simple practice: instead of just highlighting what resonates, I revisit those favorite passages a few weeks after finishing a book, and take notes on what stands out the most.

This filtering process helps me get to the essence of the book, allowing me to summarize its key lessons so I can put them into practice — because wisdom without action is ultimately useless.

It's a simple yet powerful practice I started for myself. Now, as I'm about to become a dad, I want to do it as a gift for my children.

I'll be sharing more of my journey here :)

Develop into a lifelong self-learner through voracious reading; cultivate curiosity and strive to become a little wiser every day.
Charlie Munger

A man cannot directly choose his circumstances, but he can choose his thoughts, and so indirectly, yet surely, shape his circumstances.

Your mission is to discover your Life’s Task, but when you conform to social norms, you will listen more to others than to your own voice. You may choose a career path based on what peers and parents tell you, or on what seems lucrative. If you lose contact with your inner calling, you can have some success in life, but eventually your lack of true desire catches up with you. Your work becomes mechanical. You come to live for leisure and immediate pleasures.
Robert Greene

Essentialism is not about how to get more things done; it’s about how to get the right things done [the right way, at the right time]. It doesn’t mean just doing less for the sake of less either. It is about making the wisest possible investment of your time and energy in order to operate at your highest point of contribution by only doing what is essential..

Use your mind to think about things, rather than think of them. You want to be adding value as you think about projects and people, not simply reminding yourself they exist.
